The Internet Code
We want to make getting your internet services from SaskTel as easy as possible. We’re committed to meeting and exceeding the guidelines set out by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in the Internet Code to make sure that you understand your rights and obligations as an internet customer.
The CRTC Internet Code is intended to:
- Make it easier for individual customers to obtain and understand the information in their internet contracts;
- Establish consumer-friendly business practices for the internet service industry where necessary; and
- Contribute to a dynamic internet market.
Your Rights as an Internet Consumer
On January 31, 2020, the Internet Code will come into effect and you’ll have the right to:
- Receive 60 days’ notice prior to changes of key terms, including price and speed, when you’re on month-to-month service.
- If you’re on a fixed-term internet contract:
- Refuse a change to your contract’s key terms and conditions, including the services in your contract, the price for those services, and your contract’s duration.
- Cancel your contract at no cost within 15 calendar days if you are unhappy with your service.
- Choose the format of your contract and related documents (electronic or paper) at no charge.
- Receive your contract and related documents in plain language, so it's easy to read and understand.
- Receive a Critical Information Summary which explains your contract in under two pages.
- Receive a notification when you’re on a capped internet plan and reach 75%, 90%, and 100% of your data usage limit within a monthly billing cycle.
- Clear prices and offers set out in your contract, as well as indication if prices include taxes and any other limitations.
