Churchbridge Public School received I Am Stronger grant and builds awareness about bullying

The Churchbridge Public School Bully Prevention group was established in 2010 to build awareness about bullying.
Students and teachers at Churchbridge Public School are playing their part to help build awareness about and prevent bullying. In 2010, the school formed a Bully Prevention group that consists of students from grades 7 to 12. This group plans regular events throughout the school year, including frequent classroom talks for younger students to discuss the effects of bullying and what can be done to help prevent it.
Their aim is to provide a safe environment for everyone at school.
“Educating people about bullying prevention is important to me because I love trying to stop bullying as much as I can and just get rid of it for good,” said a student member of the Bully Prevention group.
On April 13, 2016, the Bully Prevention group played a key role in organizing a school-wide event for International Pink Day. The entire school got involved in different fun and educational activities, all of which centered around bullying awareness and prevention.

With the help of a SaskTel I Am Stronger grant for $900, the school was able to fund Pink Day initiatives as well as ongoing activities put on by the school’s Bully Prevention group. The grant also assisted with purchasing promotional material, prizes, and t-shirts for the Bully Prevention team members.
“I would strongly suggest that folks that have bullying prevention or bullying prevention activities in their schools [visit the I Am Stronger] website and take a look at the grants,” said Alisa Leidl, Principal of Churchbridge Public School. “It’s really simple to complete and easy to access. We just really appreciate the support.”
