Year Received: 2021
Home Town/City: Flying Dust First Nation
Area of Study: Commerce
University of Saskatchewan

Future Aspirations: For educational aspirations, I hope to obtain my Master of Business Administration after obtaining my Bachelor of Commerce degree. I also wish to become a Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) from the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association (AFOA) of Canada. As for career aspirations, I would love to work specifically in Indigenous economic development or to work in a finance role serving an Indigenous community. Growing up I saw the gaps in community programs on reserve and the systematic racism that prevents Indigenous people from accessing essential resources. I desire to become a life-long learner by identifying the different ways to support Indigenous communities in their self-governance and economic development models. My end goal is to one day work for my home community of Flying Dust, but I believe my journey is just beginning!

Thoughts: I am sincerely grateful for the scholarship that SaskTel provided me as it will alleviate some of the financial challenges of being a young student and because it will take me one step closer to achieving my goals. As a young Indigenous woman, I am also proud to receive this scholarship from SaskTel. SaskTel is a company that greatly values Indigenous communities by creating scholarships like this available for the youth.
