Telewriter (TTY)
A telewriter (TTY) is a piece of equipment that allows people with speech or hearing disabilites to communicate over telephone lines using typed messages.
A TTY signalling unit is provided to registered users on a no charge loan. A second TTY can be requested for a principal contact. Approved TTY users also receive a 50% discount on long distance calls within Canada.
TTY Directory Designation
The letters "TTY" can be displayed following a name listed in the DirectWest phone book to indicate a telewriter user (no charge applies).
